I’m Going To New York!

For as long as I can remember I have always dreamt of visiting New York, but it was one of those dreams that I thought was so out of my reach. It’s the set of  favourite TV show ‘Gossip Girl’ and home to some of my favourite celebrities and tomorrow the 20th of January 2015 I will actually be going to NYC. I’ll be visiting the city for four days with my college and I am so excited! We will be obviously be visiting all the main attractions and I’ll hopefully be doing a lot of make up shopping, I can not wait to try out some american brands!

Because of this there won’t be any beauty posts this week but I will have an update post with lot’s of pictures from my trip when I come back as well as a haul. 

For those who are lucky enough to live in or have visited NYC, do you have any recommendations of places to go or things to do?

A Day In London

So I visited London on Thursday and had such a great time. I’ve been wanting to do some more lifestyle posts along side my usual make up posts for a while now, and I thought this would be a great way to start. 

Whilst in London I visited the Ripleys museum which is home to all things weird and unusal, as you can see from the pictures they had wa figures of the worlds tallest man and the worlds fattest woman. They also had an electric chair simulator there which shows a figure being electrocute, very scary, and a mirror maze. After this I visited China Town and Lester Square for the first time which was amazing! Then I went on to Covent Garden which is one of my favourite places, the Christmas decorations were up too which made it look even prettier. Whilst there i couldn’t resist the amazing Mac shop that is in Covent Garden, and I FINALLY picked up Rebel lipstick which is SO SO amazing! Keep your eyes peeled for a post on it next week.

I Got a Puppy / Where Have I Been?

Going on to the wordpress app and writing this post feels extremely weird as it’s been so long! You may or may not have noticed I haven’t made a blog post in around a month now, and I am deeply ashamed and sorry about that. With so much going on in college and my life at the moment I just truly haven’t had the time to sit down and put a post together, or if I have, I haven’t been happy enough with the post to actually post it.
But anyway, I’m back now, and I thought I’d update you on what’s gone on in the last month or so. Firstly, if you follow me on twitter you may know that I GOT A DOG! Yes after around 4 years of begging my mother to get a puppy she agreed, and two weeks ago we got the most adorable little Yorkshire terrier puppy named Minty. He’s a little mischief and we are finding it really hard to train him, but I wouldn’t change him for the world, I am so so in love!

I also went to see the Vamps a few weeks ago, a friend of mine gave me her ticket for free as she wasn’t up to going and I actually really enjoyed myself. They’re all really talented and I particularly enjoyed Tristan’s drum solo! Then last weekend I spent the day with my best friends caving pumpkins, going to a spooky maze and…ended up dying the ends of my hair lilac. I’m not 100% sure whether I like it, but it’s a bit of fun and it should start to fade pretty soon. Apart from that all I’ve done is college work, eat out A LOT and clean up after the new addition to my household. From now on I’ll hopefully be back to uploading two times a week!

Beauty Blogger Of The Month Award

Around a week ago I was notified that I’d been nominated for the beauty blogger of the month award by Honor Recommends, who I’d like to say a huge thank you to! This award was created by Cecilias Corner and I think it’s a great way to recognise beauty bloggers.

Now onto my answers to the 7 questions set by Cecilia.

Where does your makeup inspiration come from?

A: I started wearing make up from a very young age(around 11), I’d always be told off for spending too long putting on mascara and that I didn’t need to bother at that age. My love and inspiration for make up definitely comes from the beauty community on YouTube though. At the age of 14/15 I started watching people such as FleurDeForce, Sammy Marie and MacBarbie107 and I remember wanting to buy everything they talked about and I followed all of their tutorials. Even now 3 years later I still watch beauty gurus and get tips and tricks from them, I think it’s a great way to learn about make up!

What are 3 of your makeup Holy Grail products you cannot live without?

A: Hmmm. Definitely my Naked palettes as whenever I’m wearing eyeshadow I will without fail be wearing at least one shade from those palettes.
Another product that I absolutely love is Mac’s Pro Longwear foundation, I just think that it’s the most perfect combination of matte and sheer and it provides excellent coverage.
For the third product I’m going to go with my Benefits Brows A Go Go. I’ve used this eyebrow kit for over 2 years now and I can’t imagine using anything else on my brows, although I must say when it does finally run out i am going to search for an alternative because it’s just so expensive.

What is your makeup signature look which you have on most of the time?

A: The make up look that I wear more than anything else is a smokey eye using half baked and buck from the Naked palette and a nude lip using Mac Creme Cup. I just think it’s a really pretty effortless look.

Let us know your favourite makeup brands?

A: Umm this is a hard one because I don’t have one stand out brand that I own a lot of make up from. But I’m going to say Rimmel, Sleek and Mac.

Your ultimate makeup pet peeve?

A: I could go on for a while but my top make pet peeve is people who don’t fill in their eyebrows or people who fill them in really really badly (the sharpie look). There’s just no excuse with the amount of good brow products on the market these days.

You’ve heard about all the hype on this makeup item, bought it, tried it and don’t understand what all the fuss is about…Name that product!

A: Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, I bought this stuff in a trio on the plane back last year and I think I’ve used it about 5 times since. I really don’t get the big fuss about it?

Concealer OR foundation ONLY for the rest of your life. Choose one and tell us the reason!

A: Ooo tough one. I’m going to say foundation just because I feel like if you’re using a good enough one you sometimes don’t need concealer. I’m lucky enough not to suffer with dark under eye circles or many spots so I only really use it to highlight the under eye area.

10 Facts About Me:
1) What motivated you to start blogging?
I’d been reading blogs for a few years and always loved the thought of writing about my favourite beauty and make up products. Then after picking up a whole lot of new make up one afternoon and having no one to express my excitement to I decided to start a blog to write about it all. Unfortunately this post is no longer as I started on blogger and decided to change to wordpress a few weeks later.

2) What are your goals for your blog?
Of course I want my blog to be successful and get a lot of views but I didn’t start blogging for that reason and if I had the same amount of followers in 3 years time I would still carry on and be happy. My blog is a place where I can write down my views on my favourite products etc and I get a lot of joy from doing it.

3) What are my all-time favourite beauty products?
Definitely my Urban Decay Naked Palettes and Mac’s Pro Longwear Foudnation. Both are my holy grail make up items and I use them pretty much every day.

4) What is your favourite makeup brand?
In terms of high end definitely Mac but unfortunately I can’t afford to be shopping there every week. For drug store I’m going to say Rimmel as I’m a huge fan of their foundations.

5) Top 5 products on your wish list:
The number one product on my wishlist and has been for years is Nars Laguna Bronzer. I hear so many things about the bronzer and I’m dying to try it! The other four products on my wishlist are Mac’s Pro Longwear Concelear, Nars Sheer Glow, Mac Rebel and Nars Albatross

6) What’s one beauty tip you swear by?
Contouring. It completes your face, makes your cheekbones look more defined and warms your face up.

7) What are some ways you stay or gain confidence?
Hmmm. This is a tough one for me as I’m not the most confident person but I’m going to say putting on make up as it really does give me the most confidence out of everything. I can wake up in the morning feeling really shitty about myself, put on make up and then feel a lot better.

8) What is your favourite piece of clothing you own?
This is a tough one. Probably a green blazer that I recently got as it looks amazing paired with pretty much anything.

9) If you had the opportunity to do anything in your past again what would it be?
Suck things up and get on with them, especially from the age of 11-15, I wasted those years of my life and I regret it so much.

10) Describe your pet and if you don’t have one what would you like to get?
I am obsessed with pugs! As soon as I move out I already know I’m going to get a pug named sniffles. Yes, sniffles.
